MFG HOUSING

MANUFACTURED HOUSING

Factory-built housing, which includes pre-cut styles such as log homes, modular units, panelized construction and manufactured housing, is basically constructed as a self-contained unit in one or two sections pursuant to a national code and transported to the site for installation on a permanent foundation.

Considerations
Traditionally, manufactured housing was previously considered by many people to be inferior to site-built construction. According to the Schultz Property Inspection Technical Staff, however, greater compliance and enforcement of manufactured housing code issues has significantly changed the general quality of manufactured housing. Assuming reasonable construction practices have been followed, the main concern is the suitability of the foundation and the installation of the manufactured housing on the foundation. Consideration should also be given to the method of connection to all utilities as well. A home inspection of manufactured housing is advised prior to purchase.
